College Overview
Narmada College of Science and Commerce is an English Medium College, situated in the industrially developing district of Bharuch. To meet the growing need of skilled and educated manpower in various industries in the district, the College was started by the Narmada Education and Scientific Research Society, a Trust set - up under the able leadership of Shri N. Vittal IAS, the then M.D., GNFC with wholehearted cooperation of the prominent citizen and the local leading industrialists.
 
The primary objective of the College is to usher in an era of value - based education with a special emphasis on Chemistry, Electronics and Computer Science along with Commerce. Besides developing a cadre of technocrats and youth powered with managerial and administrative abilities, the College seeks to serve as a launching pad for aspiring students to enter the profession of their choice by equipping them with adequate knowledge and skills at the undergraduate and post graduate level.

To Fulfill the long cherished goal of imparting Management Education, a three years full time degree course in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) was started in July 1998. Continuing the growth process, the College also started full-time Masters degree courses in Management (MBA) and Computer Applications (MCA) which have now come up as independent institutes.

University grants communication with a view to equip students, with an extra edge along with graduation has proposed 'ADD ON' courses for various faculties.Narmada College has been granted three 'ADD ON' courses for the students taking science, namely :

  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Medical Lab Technology
  • Environmental Auditing
These courses would lead to a certificate(1st Year), Diploma(2nd Year) and advance diploma (3rd Year) in the above subjects.

A center for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University has been granted which offers various certificate and diploma courses which can be taken up by any person who has completed 10+2.These courses can also be taken up by the college students along with the graduate studies.

Post Graduate courses of M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry) and M.Com.(Marketing and Cost Accounting) have been started from academic year 2005-06.

The Trust is managed by the Board of Governors who are senior Executives of GNFC & eminent personalities of Bharuch District with Shri Haribhai V Patel, IAS, Managing Director of GNFC acting as the Chairman of the Trust.
